General Role Description
The Director of Accounting and Administration will oversee the accounting staff to ensure accurate and timely reporting and deliverables to both internal and external stakeholders. This is a dynamic role and will evolve as new processes and procedures are implemented and improved.



This position Reports to the President and has direct supervisory responsibilities over the Accounting Manager and Executive Assistant.


High Level Key Responsibilities
o Embrace and promote the core values, mission, and vision of the organization
o Provide training, direction, and evaluation of direct reports
o Lead the development and implementation of goals, policies, and procedures in
technology, financial management, and accounting
o Accountable for general and project insurance compliance
o Monitor the review and reconciliation of bank accounts
o Review/Approve ACH payments
o Ensure timely and accurate assembly of financial statements and supporting
documents (AJEs, Reconciliations, Allocations, etc)
o Monitor timely period close in accounting system
o Review payroll for accuracy prior to disbursement
o Ensure processing and paying all payroll taxes
o Ensure timely and accurate Work in Process (WIP) updates each month
o Accountable for reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
o Review and adjust G&A expenses for accuracy
o Accountable to facilitate the annual 3rd Party CPA review process
o Assists with auditor and tax requests
o Developing strong relationships with outside audit firm, banks, insurance brokers,
senior leadership team, and other parties in matters pertaining to accounting issues
o Ensures timely and accurate completion of W2 and 1099 forms
o Assists in technical research
o Lead annual budget preparation process and monthly review of budget vs actual
analysis
o Responsible for proactive cash management including forecasting
o Explore opportunities to reduce all operating expenses



Risk Management
o Accountable for reviewing and maintaining insurance policies and renewals
o Understanding of applicable Prime and Subcontract Agreements and terms



Requirements
o 5 years supervisory experience in similar role
o Accounting degree preferred
o Plexxis or similar ERP experience preferred
o Fundamental understanding of construction specific and financial accounting
o Proven track record of month-end close responsibility and timely financial statement issuance
o Ability to identify sources of information and analyze accuracy of balances
o Desire to critically think, problem solve, and present conclusions
o Prior supervisory experience. Experience will include the following:
o Training on processes, accounting fundamentals, software use
o Proven track record of training and developing staff

Compensation
o $130-160K
o Paid Holidays
